Excavation is more complicated than just moving dirt if you want
the job done right. It is important to consider factors including
the site’s overall contour, the characteristics of the soil,
drainage challenges, building pad placement and any possible future
expansion plans. JJID is experienced in working in all types of
environments and understands the big picture when it comes to proper
site preparation and coordination of the various trades.

has earned JJID many satisfied clients. Irwin & Leighton, Construction
Manager for Wal-Mart, awarded the complete site work contract for
the new Wal-Mart Superstore in Elkton, MD to JJID. A 33-acre commercial
site development project, involving earthwork, utilities and paving
for a 218,000 square-foot building and 15-acre parking lot, to be
performed on a demanding 9-month schedule through winter conditions.
This $7-million project required over 114,000 cubic-yards of structural
soil to be imported to meet fill requirements which included the
removal and replacement of over 80,000 cubic-yards of unsuitable
soils. On average, JJID installed approximately 2,500 cubic-yards
of material per day, utilizing two different sources. Despite the
adverse winter conditions encountered and the unsuitable soils that
plagued the site, the project was delivered on time.
